6 quarts. (with filter). This is the capacity with the oil filter installed. Always check the oil level after refilling.

Oil Drain Plug Torque:
22 ft/lbs (Oil Drain Plug). Be sure to replace the drain plug gasket and only use an Original Equipment (OE) drain plug.
Notes:
In an emergency, if you must add oil and cannot find one that meets the required Volkswagen oil quality standard, you may add a maximum of 0.5 liters (0.5 quarts) of an engine oil that meets the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) A3/B4 and American Petroleum Institute (API) SN specifications, with a Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) 0W-20 viscosity grade. Using an oil with a different viscosity grade can increase vehicle emissions and fuel consumption, so it should only be done in emergencies.
